The Derksen Studio is a dynamic, multi-purpose space designed to support interdisciplinary exploration across performance, composition, sonic arts and emerging technologies.

Equally suited to function as a rehearsal room, performance venue, or an experimental audio-visual environment, this adaptable studio empowers medium-sized productions with professional-grade infrastructure.

Blonde timber paneling wraps three sides of the space, providing both warmth and acoustic quality. Permanently installed high-spec projectors and a sophisticated spatial audio mapping system make this studio a flagship venue for composition, sonic arts, and multimedia work.

The immersive audio-visual capabilities offer students and industry professionals alike the tools to push creative boundaries and explore new frontiers in sound and performance design.

Retractable seating transforms the space into a performance-ready venue, ideal for small to medium sized productions. Overhead, a fully equipped mother grid houses permanent projectors, moving and static lighting fixtures and advanced technical systems—providing industry-standard rigging and control for lighting, audio, and projection.

Purpose-built for innovation, The Derksen Studio is a future-facing space where students can experiment, create, and present work that blends disciplines and technologies in bold and imaginative ways.
