Sturm und Stille
Performed by: Classical String Camerata with The Darlington Quartet
Batten down the hatches and hold on to your hats as the String Camerata sweeps
you away with a program full of drama. Heinrich Biber’s eccentric and theatrical
Battalia à 10 vividly depicts a battle, complete with pre-fight tavern scene and
bazooka-wielding cellos! Vivaldi’s virtuosic concerto La Tempesta di Mare, with violin
soloist Mia Thomas at the helm, brings the wind and waves of a storm at sea to the
stage. After Arvo Part’s serene Summa – the still centre at the heart of every good
storm – the String Camerata is joined by WAAPA woodwind students for Mozart’s
electrifying Symphony No. 25, the epitome of 18th-century Sturm und Drang.
